Thanks to the help of some friends, I made mozzarella cheese from SCRATCH. It's really not as hard as it sounds. Of course it is a lot easier to just buy the cheese from the store, but what fun is that? I got the idea
from a book, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, by Barbara Kingsolver. For first time cheese makers, she recommended purchasing Ricki's Cheesemaking Kit. Which, I did, and it was perfect. It comes with everything you need and some really simple instructions. It only took 45 minutes before we were eating homemade cheese. I'm so excited about my cheese experience that I might try to make again, solo. Hopefully the girls will take a really long nap that afternoon.
